Sadie Lee Van Houten, 81, of Mt. Olive went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, March 17, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Legacy Baptist Church, 122 Northeast Church Road in Mt. Olive. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 until 3:45 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Van Houten was born in Florida on May 21, 1936 to the late William Brady and Alice Rigdon Cordell. Mrs. Van Houten was the oldest living member of Legacy Baptist Church in Mt. Olive.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Herring of Mt. Olive and Benjamin “Brad” Herring and wife, Denise of Dudley; one daughter, Lora Van Houten of Wilson; daughter-in-law, Melissa Herring; one brother, Wally Cordell and wife, Mary of Florida; one sister, Joyce Allen and husband, Norman of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Barley and husband, Joseph, Melissa Barnes and husband, Eddie, Brett Herring, Garret Herring, Autumn Herring, Zachary Walton and Riley Walton and two great-grandchildren, Joneshia and Jerrica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Jones and Betty Louise Herring; a brother, Wilbur Cordell and a sister, Dora Mae Eulenfield.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
