Maude Geraldine Jones, 87, was called home to heaven Friday night, October 5th, 2018 at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 07, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 until 3:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
Geraldine was born in Pikeville, NC August 16, 1931 to the late Joseph Eddie Jones and Emily Leona Beamon-Jones. She retired as a nutritionist from Southern Wayne High School.
She was an extraordinary home cook, baker and canner. She loved to quilt and plant flowers outside her home. Her love for family extended to her many pets. She was an avid gardener and spent her days bathing in sun at White Lake. Geraldine was the rock that formed the foundation from which the family was built upon. She always had a gentle assertiveness that could calm the strongest of storms. Geraldine was a life-long member of Providence United Methodist Church.
Geraldine is survived by her children, Edward Jones and his wife Deborah, Sharon Ackiss and her husband Warren, Greg Jones, Carolyn Thompson and husband Lee; grandchildren, Dennis Jones and wife Ashley, Crystal Davis and husband David, Brandon Jones and wife Michelle, Danielle Rose, Jason Ackiss and wife Julie, Melanie Caroon and husband Josh, Emily Odom and husband J.R., Heather McDonald and husband Brandon, Karen Viehweger and husband Nathan, Georganna Snyder and husband Kody, James Thompson and Jesse Thompson; and sixteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Edward Jones, Sr.; son, Dennis Gerald Jones; granddaughter, Katie Jones; three sisters and two brothers.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
