Joseph Bennett Johnson, 78, of Goldsboro went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
Mr. Johnson served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as Senior Master Sergeant. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. While his health permitted, he attended Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Chapel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Johnson; his mother, Ida Johnson of Clinton; two daughters, Pamela Johnson of Goldsboro and Nicolle Robbins and husband, Brandon of Goldsboro; two brothers, Haywood Johnson and wife, Roberta of Fayetteville and James Johnson and wife, Lillian of Garland; one grandchild, Candice Johnson; sister-in-law, Kelly Johnson of Goldsboro; his nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Johnson and two brothers, Furman L. Johnson and Truman Johnson.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
