Joseph Albert James, Jr. of Clayton died unexpectedly on July 25, 2017.

Joe was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on June 5, 1972 to Vern Barfield James (Sells) and Joseph Albert James, Sr. He was a plumbing contractor and the owner of Clayton Plumbing Company.

Joe lived most of his life in the Goldsboro area. He was a generous and loving father, son, and family man. His dedication to his immediate family was almost matched by his love and attention to his extended family, and all are heartbroken by his loss. He was a master pig cooker and a private service to celebrate his life will be held on July 29, 2017 at “Joe’s Hog Hut” in Pikeville.

Joe is survived by his mother, Vern Sells; his minor daughters, Charlotte and Sara James; one brother, Jeffrey James (Helga); sister, Anne Nunez (Arthur), sister, Brandy Arteno, and by his fiancée, Brandy Hinnant and her sons, Rickie and Liam.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. “Buster” James.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family will be creating a trust for the benefit of his daughters.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
