James Aaron Thompson, Jr., 91, of Pikeville passed away December 31, 2019 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Paramount Theater on Center St. in Goldsboro, NC.
James is survived by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian Thompson Sr.; his brother, Theodore Thompson and sister, Doris Thompson and brothers-in-law, David White and Job S. White.
James, along with his wife, served over 70 years as a special full-time minster of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 1952, he graduated from the Gilead School for Missionary Service. He and his wife served as foreign missionaries in Guyana, South America for 26 years before settling down in Pikeville in 1995. He has since been serving as an elder and special pioneer in the Goldsboro congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
James was a warm and loving person – a father figure to many. He will be deeply missed by his spiritual family all over the world.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
