Gwenderlyn Knight Oates, 68, of Dudley passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Gwenderlyn was born in Mt. Dora Florida on November 26, 1948 to the late Charlie and Channie Knight Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry D. Oates of the home; two sons, Alphonxo F. Oates and wife, Connedia of Raleigh, Anthony G. Oates and wife, Clarrisse of Findlay Ohio; two daughters, Pamela K. Oates of the home, Tomika Oates Kornegay and husband, Kuyodus of Goldsboro; three brothers, Moses Dawson and wife, Joni of Dallas Texas, Charlie Knight Jr. of Greensboro, William Knight of Goldsboro; seven grandsons, two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Knight Sr.; her mother, Channie Knight and her infant son, John Lee Oates.

A private graveside service will be at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
