Grace Pearce Tyner

Pikeville- Grace Pearce Tyner, 87, formerly of the Grantham community went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019 at home.

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. 

Mrs. Tyner was born in Johnston County on November 26, 1931 to the late Richard and Allie Talton Pearce.  She was a faithful member of Goldsboro PFWB Church for over 50 years where she served in many capacities including youth director, Sunday school treasurer, choir director and adult Sunday school teacher.  She encouraged so many people with her card ministry throughout the years.  She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Sophronia Daughtry and husband, Mike of Pikeville; four sons, Luby M. Tyner Jr. of Pikeville, Marshall Anthony Tyner and wife, Martha of Newton Grove, Dwight E. Tyner and wife, Tammy of Pikeville and Jeffrey L. Tyner and wife, Suzanne of Pikeville; one sister, Betsy Pearce Ingram of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren, Luby M. Tyner III,  Marshall A. Tyner Jr. , Dwight E. Tyner Jr., Stacy Finley and husband, Joe, Joseph Daughtry and wife, Candace and April Taylor and husband, Brian and sixteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luby M. Tyner; three brothers, Infant “Little Richard”, Willard and Alton Pearce; five sisters, Josephine Pearce, Dorothy P. Massey, Ethel P. Best, Louise Hartley and Allie “Ruth” Lane; grandson, Jason Tyner and her great-granddaughter, Destinee Christine.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Community Home, Health and Hospice and her caregivers, Natalie and Allison, for their unconditional love and care given.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 4, 2019 from 7 until 8: 30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
