Gloria and Family: I was researching info on the family for ancestry.com. I came across this obituary of Rance. He is one year older than my oldest son. As a mother, the reality of such a great loss hit hard at home. We have not seen Rance or the family for over thirty years while visiting Tincey in Cairo. Though time and miles have separated us, I want you, Gloria, to know that I still have a special place in my heart for you and the closeness we shared in the 60's. I pray for your great loss of your only son, Rance. God bless you and the family in all

I am truly sorry for your loss, Gary Rance Hurley was a man who wanted to do right. I met him a couple years ago, and when our paths crossed it was something to see how much he wanted to keep from his old life. The time we spent together was something special for Gary, he had so much potential, but his dark side would emerge. I was continually praying for him and I saw God working, because God was changing him. I remember how excited he was when he met Robin and how he wanted to always be with her. I remember when he pursued truck driving school and made it through with flying colors, but even with all the good he was trying to achieve, the old man, the man of the past, crept back in and the drugs called to him, and he beckoned to the call. I am truly sorry that I couldn’t have done more for him. My heart is heavy from hearing that Satan got another person with his addiction. My prayers go out to his family and friends, and especially his mother and his girlfriend. May God give you the peace and comfort that you need.

To the family of Rance Howell. I am truly sorry for your loss. I met Rance when he came to Potters Wheel. In just a couple of days we became close friends. We had many long talks together and in the short time we spent with each other he left a lasting impression on me that i will cherish forever. He had a personality that would make everyone he came into contact with happy and could get you to laugh no matter how bad of a day you were having. Im going to miss my friend. Rest in Peace. We were very touched with the spirit of the obituary and wish to commend you and your family for the manner in which you have brought a great spirit of Christ's love for His children before the attention of an often skeptical public. I have authored close to 200 op-ed articles for various papers over the last 15 years under the title "We, the people."
