Evelyn Yona Nkurlu

Evelyn Yona Nkurlu, 72, passed away suddenly Monday, October 14, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center in Goldsboro where she was a member.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 4:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held in Tanzania.

Ms. Nkurlu was born in Tanzania on March 23, 1947 to the late Yona Nkurlu and Wanzigia Nonigwa Nkurlu. 

She is survived by one daughter, Lilian K. Danieli and husband, Dr. Sembua Danieli of Pikeville; two granddaughters, Imani Danieli and Serena Danieli; one grandson, Akili Danieli; her sisters, Matilda Sauli and Sophia Yona; her brothers, Calvert Nkurlu, Julius Nkurlu, Francis Nkurlu, Modest Nkurlu and Fadhili Nkurlu.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Nkurlu was preceded in death by her brothers, Geoffrey and Ephraim Nkurlu and her sister, Miriam Nkurlu.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
