Dorothy Gray Stone, 85, formerly of Mount Olive, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at The Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
Mrs. Stone was born in Wayne County on June 27, 1933 to the late Offie and Susan Phillips Strickland. She was a member of Amplify Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by three daughters, Ida Jane Hope and husband, Jimmy of Mt. Olive, Patricia Berry and husband, Jeff of Washington State and Margaret Ann Sledge and husband, Terry of Raleigh; sisters, Eunice Daniels of Mt. Olive, Mary Jane Herring of Mt. Olive and Margaret Porter of Tarboro; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband, Veron Stone; her son, Arthur Strickland; her brothers, Milford Strickland and Bennie Strickland and sisters, Mae Medford and Gracie Stone, Virginia Cram, Shirley Ballree and Mildred Watts.
