Donnie Clinton Bell, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member and served as Trustee, Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
Mr. Bell was born in Wayne County on August 12, 1930 to the late Clinton and Clyde Cook Bell. He was retired from F.W. Woolworth’s after 35 years of service. Mr. Bell was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Joan C. Bell; one son, Donnie Clyde “Bucky” Bell and wife, Pamela of Stantonsburg; two daughters, Terry Lynn Bell of Burlington, NC and Tonya Bell Watkins and husband, Allen of Watery Branch; one step-daughter, Angela W. Smith and husband, Jason of Wilmington; one sister, Nell Bell Lagowski of Arizona; eight grandchildren, Michael Bowers, Donnie Clinton Bell II and wife, Autumn, Michelle Chamberlin and husband, Andrew, Allen Bell, Lexi Bell, Ashlyn Watkins, Annabelle Watkins and Addison “Abigail” Watkins; three step-grandchildren, Makayla Smith, Colton Smith and Blake Smith; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Batts Bell; three brothers, Willie Bell, Ralph “Buddy” Bell and Ceyna Bell and three sisters, Retha Walston, Marjorie Taylor and Dorothy Mooring.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, April 27, 2019 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 425 Watery Branch Church Road in Stantonsburg and other times at the residence.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be directed to Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church for the Youth Ministry in honor of Mr. Bell.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
