Donna (Dempsey) Brown

Donna Dempsey Brown Passed away April 24, 2019 at Wayne UNC Health Care with her husband, James Brown by her side, holding her hand.

She was born in Bristol, VA. to the late William Guy Dempsey and the late Sadie Satula Dempsey on January 13, 1958.

Donna began entertaining at an early age in East Tennessee. Doing imitations of the stars of that time including Lily Tomlin’s ”Ernestine The Telephone Operator” and many others.  She was asked to perform at the Inauguration Ball of former Tennessee Governor Ray Blanton.

After college, Donna moved to Florida and began a singing career that included working with the USO and also traveling throughout America.

Donna left Florida and came back to North Carolina in 2001. She filled her time doing volunteer work at a store that provided help for battered woman.

She became an active member of St. Andrews Church in 2014.

Those surviving Donna include her husband, James Brown of the home: her sister, Beth Collins of Goldsboro; two nephews, Jerry Collins (Emily) of Portage IN. and Eric Collins (Jacqueline) of Goldsboro; one grand-niece, Britnie Collins and one great grandniece, Emma Richards both from Amissville, VA., one grandnephew, William Collins; her uncles, Jack Dempsey (Faye) of Johnson City, TN., Bob Dempsey (Debbie) of Nashville, TN. and Otto Satula (Joan) of Oak Creek, Wisconsin and a host of loving cousins.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 901 Harris Street in Goldsboro on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
