Billy Ray Ellis, 85, departed this walk of life Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wayne UNC Health Care with his family by his side.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 7 p.m. at United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road in Goldsboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Ellis was born in Wayne County on August 7, 1932 to the late Tony Ellis Sr. and Ethel Keeter Ellis. He attended United in Christ Church in Goldsboro.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 66 years, Dorothy Britt Ellis; his three sons, David Ray Ellis, James Ellis and Joshua Bryant Ellis, all of Goldsboro; his daughter, Renee’ Gay; his brother, Tony Ellis Jr. and wife, Hazel; his sister, Della Ellis and his two grandchildren, Jamie B. Pate and Brandy Causey.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his son, Jason Britt Ellis; his two daughters, Billie Jean Ellis and Delores Ellis and his sister, Mary Anderson.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
