Andrew Donald Willson, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Lenoir UNC Healthcare in Kinston, North Carolina.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Andy, as he was known to all, was born in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Andrew C Willson and Anne C Willson. He was a graduate of Henry Grady High School. Andy served as a Drill Sargent in the US Army Reserves for six years and was called for active duty to Sampigny France for one year in 1955. After his military service, he enjoyed a career in Health and Beauty Supply sales where his outgoing personality made him many friends through the years. Upon retirement, Andy worked at Caswell Center in Kinston. He also had various seasonal jobs including selling Christmas trees, strawberries and grapes.
In addition to his wife of 29 years, Rebecca M Willson, Andy is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Willson and a son, Donald Claude Willson. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Michael Tyson, Kristy W King, DJ Willson and five great grandchildren. Additional survivors include his wife's children, Connie Mozingo, Janice Honeycutt and Wade Hallman Jr, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 in honor of his loving wife, Rebecca Willson.
A very special acknowledgement of gratitude is given to his devoted caregivers at NC State Veterans Home in Kinston where he resided the last ten months.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
