BiographyWilson- Lela Mae Chase Grimes, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Homegoing services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends afterwards. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 22, 1013 at 11 a.m. at Chase Family Cemetery in Pikeville.
Mrs. Grimes, one of ten children, was born in Wayne County on May 23, 1928 to the late William Herman and Mary Angelina Chase. She was a member of Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1966.
She is survived by three sons, Gerald Grimes and wife, Anita of Fremont, Ricky Grimes and wife, Pat of Wilson and Dennis Grimes and wife, Judy of Stantonsburg; two daughters, Suzette Tilghman of Snow Hill and Shelia Lamm and husband, Jimmy of Wilson; five brothers, Hugh Chase and wife, Sandra of Fremont, James Chase and wife, Audrey, Delton Chase and wife, Ruth of Pikeville, Johnny Chase and wife, Lavonne of New Mexico and Bobby Keith Chase and wife, Paulette of Pikeville; three sisters, Eva Hehl and husband, Bill of Goldsboro, Barbara Forehand and husband, Mickey of Goldsboro and Virginia Gay Byrd and husband, Bob of Fremont; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, David Grimes and a daughter, JoAnn Overby.
The family is being served by Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
