Robert Shelton Smith

Robert Shelton Smith, 81, of Pikeville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home.

Visitation will be held at noon on Friday, May 29, 2020 with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel in Goldsboro with Reverend Ira Williford officiating.  Burial will follow at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

Mr. Smith was born on July 24, 1938 to the late Jim Berry and Exie Wells Smith.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully attended United in Christ Church in Goldsboro.  He retired from Frito-Lay Company and was currently employed with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Commissary in Goldsboro.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Linda Grice Smith; two daughters, Pamela D. Smith of Goldsboro and Renee S. Alexander and her husband, Richard of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Kyle Alexander and his wife, Liz, Justin Lancaster, Joshua Lancaster and Mcaylin Lancaster; one sister-in-law, Mariam Smith of Winston Salem and his beloved pet, Sophie.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Smith and James Smith and one sister, Joyce Hare.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
