Master Sergeant Michael Thomas Carroway, USAF, Retired, affectionately known as “Big Mike”, 56 years old, of Goldsboro, North Carolina (formerly of Wilmington, NC), peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, 31 May 2023.
Mike was educated in the New Hanover County School System, graduating from John T. Hoggard High School in the class of 1985. Immediately upon graduation, Mike joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served our country for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Thomas Brown, and his brother Antony Carroway. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving, devoted and caring wife, LaTasha B. Carroway of the home; his son, Montrel Carroway; his daughter, Brandi Carroway; his mother, Jannie B. Shuford; four sisters, Phyllis Irizarry, Lucinda Carroway, Sharon D. Sidbury, Nichelle (Joey), three brothers, Carl Carroway, Jr., Ronald Shuford and Brett Blanks; four aunts, Melvena Ross, Geraldine Jones; Celeste Fullwood and Rheda Brown; five uncles, Kenneth Jones, James Pearson, William (Faye) Pearson, William Lacewell and Ronald Lacewell; Mother-in-law, Mrs. Tobe (Larry) Holcombe; Father-in-law, Mr. David (Faye) Baldwin; Sister-in-law, Courtney (King) Romero; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial with full military honors will follow at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
