Gerald Grimes

David Gerald Grimes, 72, of Fremont went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 15, 2021 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  A graveside service will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Chase Cemetery in Pikeville. 

Gerald was born in Greene County on October 31, 1948 to the late David Grimes and Lela Mae Chase.  He was a member of Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He is survived by three sons, Brandon Grimes and wife, Amber of Fremont, Ashton Grimes and wife, Stephanie of Fremont and Brooks Grimes of Fremont; one daughter, Lisa Grimes Tyner and husband, Craig of Fremont; two brothers, Dennis Grimes and wife, Judy of Stantonsburg and Ricky Grimes and wife, Pat of Wilson; two sisters, Sheila Lamm and husband, Jimmy of Wilson and Suzette Tilghman of Snow Hill; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Overby.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
