Akishi Yolanda McDowell

Akishi Yolanda McDowell, 43, was born June 7, 1977 in Georgetown, S.C. She attended elementary & high school in Goldsboro, N.C., where she graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1996. She went on to further her education at Wake Technical Community College, where she earned her degree in culinary arts in 2007.

Akishi loved to cook and could whip up just about anything! It was not uncommon for her to “put something together” and say “here, try this”. Akishi was a woman of few words, but she was kindhearted and had a beautiful smile.

The heavenly angels came and took her home to be with Jesus Monday, April 26, 2021.

Viewing will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Goldsboro. A celebration of life will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with Dr. Kenneth Tate officiating. Burial will take place at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville following the service.  Those attending are asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

For all the years of laughter and memories to cherish, she leaves behind her mother and father, (Melissa and Paul McDowell); sister, (Teracetia McDowell); daughter, (Monae McDowell), cousins, friends and a long list of extended family.
