Princeton- William Howard (Billy) Merritt, 66, of East 2nd Street was called Home Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4 pm Friday, Sept. 30 at Princeton United Methodist Church. The family will receive family and friends following the service.

Billy was born January 23, 1950 in Poughkeepsie,  New York. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Johnson Merritt and his father, William Ernest Merritt.  

He was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara of the home and his son Ruel of Garner, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
