Master Sgt. Warren Tommy Rook, US Army, Retired, 81 of Fremont passed away 20 September 2016 at Kitty Askins.  Mr. Rook was born in Emporia, Virginia, March 6, 1935.  Mr. Rook is survived by his wife of 58 years, Claudette (Branch) Rook; his son and his wife, Kevin and Dee Rook; his grandchildren, Kevin Dale Rook, Nikki Brady, Myra Gerrell and great-grandchild, Josie Brady.  Mr. Rook has one living brother, Roger Daniel Rook of Gaston, NC and one sister, Judy Manning of Gaston, NC.

Mr. Rook is a 20 year veteran of the US Army, where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1975.

After retiring from the Army, Mr. Rook worked at NC ABC store for 15 years, a mail route in Greenville, NC for 5 years and Kerr Glass in Wilson for 5 years.

Mr. Rook met his wife, Claudette Branch at Gaston, NC and they were married in 1957.  He joined the Army in 1955 and was stationed all over the USA as well as overseas.  He took great pride in serving his country and continued to support the veterans in his spare time by driving the DAV van and getting veterans to their doctor's appointments all over NC.  He also worked the local fair ever year in the VA peanut booth.  He also sold poppies for the veterans at the US Air base when he had spare time.

Visitation will be held at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, Friday 23 September 2016 from 9 until 9:30 a.m. followed by the graveside at 10 a.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. 

The family request that no flowers be sent, but donations can be made towards the Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Diabetes and Cancer foundations.  The family also request that any food be given to the needy in the community.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
