Virginia Croom Kornegay, 81, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Carver Cemetery in Mount Olive. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kornegay was born in Wayne County on May 05, 1937 to the late Charles and Minnie Johnson Croom.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Vicky Bryant and husband, Johnnie of Goldsboro, Terry Kornegay of Maryland, Cheryl Brown of Rosewood, Sonya Kornegay of Maryland, Douglas Kornegay and wife, Keisha of Wendell and Eric Kornegay and fiancée, Monique of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and three-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kornegay was preceded in death by her husband, John Douglas Kornegay; her son, Teddy Lamont Kornegay; her son-in-law, James Brown; four brothers, Albert Croom, Arthur Croom, Roger Croom and Edmond Croom and four sisters, Lillie Williams, Dorothy Harris, Eugene Maye and Ruth Grandy.
