Goldsboro- Julia Alma Gurley Newsome, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday evening, July 14, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Homegoing service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Free Chapel PFWB Church, where she was a faithful member. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Newsome was born in Johnston County on May 07, 1929 to the late John David and Pauline Johnson Gurley. She was retired from Barry’s of Goldsboro.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Piper Brock and husband, Freddie of LaGrange and Julie Tillett of Princeton; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Newsome of Goldsboro; three brothers, Ralph Gurley, David Gurley and Ronnie Gurley and wife, Pat of Goldsboro; one sister, Lou Sasser of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a special caregiver, Nurse Dale.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her husband, D.N. Newsome; her son, Randy Newsome; four brothers, Rob, Walt, Wayne and Ken Gurley; her sister, Glady’s Grimes; one granddaughter, Teresa Blow and one great-granddaughter, Adrienne McCoy.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
