October 31, 1936 ~ July 13, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old


James Ervin Jones, 79, of Pikeville went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

 

Homegoing services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Worship Center with the Reverends Michael Hamm, Joseph Leonard and Kenneth Boyd officiating.  Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the church.

 

Mr. Jones was born in Duplin County on October 31, 1936 to the late Lewis Lynn and Lettie Wallace Jones.  He was a member of Goldsboro Worship Center, where he was always willing to lend a helping hand remodeling within his church, cooking and donations where needed.  Mr. Jones was a contractor by trade but he loved lighthouses, the mountains and his Nascar!  Mr. Jones was best known by his cooking cakes for many people.  He loved his family but always was interested in what was going on with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

He is survived by his wife, Janet Jones; sons, Scott Jones and wife, Dawn of Dudley, Ervin Flave Jones and wife, Myra of Goldsboro, Bill Joyner and wife, Connie of Goldsboro and Sherwood Chase and wife, Christi of Goldsboro; daughters, Donna Jones of Kinston, Vicky Polanco and husband, Victor of Seven Springs, Angie Herring and husband, Bobby of Pikeville and April Williams and husband, Tim of Raleigh; one brother, Dennis Jones and wife, Della of Knightdale; sister-in-law, Julia Jones of Grantham; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Jones; one son, Joseph Joyner; one brother, Lynn Jones, Jr.; sister, Betty Butler and one great-grandson, Baylen Chase Lancaster.

 

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to charity of one's choice.

 

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
