It was my pleasure, as the Principal of Jefferson Elementary School, Plainfield, NJ, to work with Gertie for 2 years. She was an outstanding, creative educator. I recommended her to join National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Epsilon Alpha Chapter (a sorority of certified educators). She pledged in 1994 and became my soror.

Being our Drama coach gave us an opportunity to express our inner dream of having our fifteen minutes of fame, lolol. Gertie was one of the most patient people I knew. Always showing much love.
