Elizabeth Cary Smith, 77, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at home.

Burial will be held in Maryland.

Mrs. Smith was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 4, 1940 to the late Bryan Black Jr. and Ruth Bowen Black.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Lee Harper and husband, George L. Harper, of Goldsboro and Elizabeth Turner McFarland and husband, Martin Lee McFarland of Roswell, Georgia; one sister, Margaret Kingsley Black Moore and husband, Garland Payne “Bo” Moore of Lutherville, Maryland; and her triplet grandchildren, Katherine V. McFarland, Alastair C. McFarland, and Samuel I. McFarland.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
