Betty Boyett Doyle, 77, of Kirkwood moved to her heavenly home July 17, 2016.

 

She was born January 27, 1939 in Pensacola, FL to William “Buster” Boyett and Roxie Juanita Ray.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, William “Buster” Boyett, who was a Baptist pastor [home missionary] and her mother, Roxie Juanita Ray; brothers Don, Gary, and Wayne Boyett and sister, Myrtis Nichols.

 

Betty is survived by one brother, Bill Boyett of FL; two sisters, Cathy Odom of FL and Patricia Lewis of FL; six children, Marcia Mooring of NC, Charles Kay of MA, Steven Kay of IN, Penny Turnbow of TN, Donna Kay of TX and Cheryl Kay of TX; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

 

She served as a Sunday school teacher to the elementary students at the Salvation Army.  Betty also volunteered in the GRANDPARENT PROGRAM through Wages, working with kindergarteners and first-graders at Tommy Road Elementary School in Goldsboro. 

 

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Blended Fellowship, 2091 Big Daddy Road, Pikeville, NC with visitation following the service.  This is where she was a strong supporter for Blended Fellowship Ministry for the Deaf.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blended Fellowship Ministry for the Deaf, P.O. Box 448, Pikeville, NC 27863; Salvation Army, P.O. Box 264, Goldsboro, NC 27534; Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Blvd, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

 

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
